The Monster Within

Many of the people viewing this website are married. Some of you are probably divorced. There is a subset of you who got divorced and eventually remarried. It’s because your stupid and didn’t learn the first time. You tasted freedom and decided it wasn’t for you. In any case, we’ve all struggled with that internal monster telling us to pull that ripcord.

I have always thought I was unique in this sense. I have had to deal with numerous unpleasant situations in my life. This includes grumpy patients, angry family members, and even the occasional cracked out homeless person. It wasn’t until I saw a comedy special with Bill Burr that I realized I was not alone.

Angels and Demons

There has to be a special place in hell for people who continuously do mundane innocuous things despite being asked to stop them. This is the true difficulty of marriage. I once heard a friend say “she’s only single because someone got tired of putting up with her shit.” This advice was only ever trumped by “You will never be disappointed if you just lower your standards.”

Judgement Day

Anyone out there, please feel free to chime in here… what type of innocuous habit does your spouse, former spouse, or future spouse do that gets under your skin for no reason? Do you actively teach your kids to avoid these habits or do you just roll the dice and see what happens when life goes unchecked?
